About
My name is Kristian Crump.
In the year 2000 I was a Second Generation Counselor managing a Needle Exchange non-profit. I enjoyed the interaction with people and service to others, but I was concerned about the way the money and politics flowed in the industry for public services. I was not content with the future I envisioned for myself.
I decided I needed a trade. Something I could do with my hands. I sought out an Electrician who allowed me to tote his bags and tools around for a bit and I found it interesting. In 2012, after 12 years in the industry as a doer, I decided to stretch my wings and go into into business for myself.
I was self employed as a one man band for a few years. A large job came by that I wanted to try so I took on some employees. That was great while it lasted. Then I realized just how hard it is to keep employees in work doing "small residential jobs".
I'm a wiser Small Businessman now. I employ or subcontract to others when it makes sense for communal benefit. I act as a GC on jobs that are heavy on electrical work when appropriate, and I still know how to put my toolbelt on and do the work personally when that makes the most sense.
I'd love to say "no job is too small", but as a one man band with a little black book of part time employees and other contractors serving an area with a radius of about 30 miles from the mouth of Carmel Valley, I do have to pick and choose a bit to keep my customers content while maintaining my own health and profitability.
I have a significant other that I've been with since 2002, I've enjoyed participating in Toast Masters for decades, we are a dog owner, and I am new to skydiving as of 2021.
When comparing my skills to other talented Electricians, my eye for detail is typically a bit above most others. My communication skills, my in depth knowledge of Electrical Work and my willingness to admit openly to what I do and don't know are the traits I appreciate most in myself. I hope you do to.
Regards
Kristian
